PCBM diffusion has previously been studied in relation to thermal stability in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) states. In BHJ, the diffusion of PCBM reduces the concentration of PCBM in the mixture, which reduces the appropriate permeation and efficiency. Conversely, in this study, we have attempted to increase the percolation in the PHJ by diffusing PCBM into the polymer donor matrix by sequentially placing the demixed active layer films and subjecting them to thermal annealing. Initially, as PCBM diffused, additional percolation pathways were created. This increased carrier mobility and short-circuit current density, thereby improving efficiency. However, after a period, degradation losses increased, leading to performance degradation. While we attempted additional control of the morphology after film formation, taking advantage of the ability of the PHJ to control the vertical distribution, we confirmed that there are limitations to the diffusion of small molecules into the already formed donor-acceptor interface. |
